Genius/Steals founder, Strategist and Paid Attention author Faris Yakob returns to our Conversations About The Future Of Advertising series after four years working nomadically and seven years since his last MIMA appearance.

Faris will leverage his global experience to talk about four key themes, which present challenges and opportunities for the advertising and marketing industries: Attention Collapse, Everything is PR, The Great Blur and Integrative Branding.

Faris Yakob

Co-founder of GENIUS/STEALS, award-winning strategist, creative director and author

Faris is co-founder of the strategy and innovation consultancy Genius Steals, built on the belief that ideas are new combinations. Genius Steals is itinerant, working with brands, agencies and startups all over the world. Being nomads allows Faris and his wife and partner Rosie to go to wherever clients need them and to be inspired by the world in between. He is the author of Paid Attention: Innovative Advertising for a Digital World, and a contributing author of Digital State and What is a Brand?, all published by Kogan Page. He was named one of ten modern day MadMen by Fast Company and one of the most respected planners in the world in The Planning Survey. Previously Faris was a founding partner of a digital agency in NYC, Chief Innovation Officer of an advertising holding company, and chief digital officer at the flagship office of the world's largest advertising agency. Faris has variously been a communication strategist, media planner, account planner, creative director, a writer for Maxim Magazine and a management consultant. Pre-registration closes at midnight prior to the event, at which point walk-in registration fees will apply.

Noteworthy Details

Cancellations received by the office at least two business days prior to the event are eligible for a refund of the registration fee. No refunds will be provided for cancellations received fewer than two business days prior to the event. No-shows will be billed for any unpaid registration fees.


If you have registered, are unable to attend, and would like to give your co-worker your "ticket," please note that a pre-registered member to non-registered member switch-out is free. Switch-outs from members to non-members will execute an invoice to the attendee for payment after the event.
