Virtual Sticky Notes
Inspiration in comes in many forms. Sometimes it’s looking at good ideas. But sometimes looking at bad examples is just as instructive. Take, for instance, the design of this men’s restroom. Any time you see a hand-written sticky note trying to instruct or correct, you know there’s a design flaw. There’s a virtual version of this too. Just look for the brightly colored, bold, larger-than-normal-font-size statements that you sometimes see on web sites. You’re sure to find that something is askew in the design, process or terminology. The quickest fix? Round up a couple of users and ask them to talk through the process. Or, try running it past some of your MIMA buddies at the upcoming Holiday Party.
